HealthNow NY DMERC Transition Project contracts HealthNow NY under Contract with Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. NCCG managed the transition of all Medicare operation activities for Durable Medical Equipment (DME) Region A from United Healthcare to HealthNow. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded the Durable Medical Equipment Regional Carrier (DMERC) Region A contract formerly held by United HealthCare Insurance company to HealthNow. The transition management responsibility involved all the tasks associated with transitioning Medicare operation activities to HealthNow for durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and medical supplies claims for beneficiaries in Region A which includes the states of Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. The Medicare operation includes all activities associated with processing approximately 8 million claims for 8,200,000 beneficiaries submitted from 47,000 suppliers. The transition management also involved the task of acquiring a Medicare operation at Nanticoke, Pennsylvania including 325 staff and the utilization of the VIPS Medicare System (VMS) operating in the IBM Data Center in Southbury, Connecticut.
